Audi 2.0 TFSI Simos 18 ECU Bench Programming & DTC Review
This workshop record shows an Audi / VAG 2.0-litre TFSI petrol engine ECU connected to a direct bench-programming fixture. The recorded programming interface lists the Continental Simos 18.1 / 18.2 protocol family; the precise fitted ECU revision requires label or diagnostic identification.
The customer-described request involved NOx, EGR, catalytic-converter (CAT) monitoring and permanent DTC / P-code deletion or removal. The photographs and short video document the hardware connection and programming session—not which fault codes were modified, any emissions test outcome, or legality for road use.

Audi Simos 18 ECU on the programming bench
These two original photographs show the actual bench setup, ECU circuit board, probing fixture and wiring. Images are optimised for mobile and desktop without synthetic hardware or altered part-number labels.

Bench-programming connections
Wide workshop view of the opened petrol ECU, direct probing connections, power and signal wiring, and controlled access to the board.

Close-up of the circuit board and test fixture
Detailed view of the ECU, probe needles and connected wiring. The exact ECU identification should be checked from its part numbers and supported diagnostic data.
Simos 18 bench programming video
A short recording of the K-TAG software session and the physical ECU bench connection. Video demonstrates an active programming workflow but cannot, by itself, verify ECU calibration outcomes or vehicle emissions performance.

Continental Simos 18.1 / 18.2 ECU software and fault-code assessment
The ECU-control-system family is used in selected VAG petrol applications. Simos 18.1 and Simos 18.2 are not assumed interchangeable: software access, checksums, calibration and fault-code interpretation depend on exact hardware/software identification and the vehicle's configuration.
NOx, EGR, catalytic-converter monitoring and permanent diagnostic trouble-code (P-code) concerns may appear in customer enquiries. Our documentation distinguishes a customer's requested software change from verified findings: no individual P-code list, calibration values, or post-repair test results were supplied for this case study.
For roadgoing vehicles, our related work includes vehicle fault-code diagnostics, ECU software flashing and programming, VW, Audi, SEAT and Škoda module programming and DTC assessment information.
Important distinction for UK road vehicles
This is a factual record of an ECU bench-programming enquiry, not evidence of road-legal emissions-system removal. Removing or disabling manufacturer emissions controls, or suppressing their fault monitoring, can make a vehicle unlawful for public-road use. The MOT checks original emissions equipment, including catalytic converters and EGR components where applicable.
For road-registered vehicles, faults should be diagnosed and repaired with applicable emissions equipment and monitoring functioning correctly. Any competition or non-road project must be assessed against the specific applicable requirements; no off-road-only status is claimed for the photographed ECU.
See the DVSA MOT inspection manual, Section 8 for the relevant inspection standards.
VAG ECU programming, diagnostics and performance tuning
Workshop enquiries are handled in Stourbridge near Birmingham and the West Midlands, with supported UK postal ECU services and online calibration-file enquiries assessed individually. Availability and pricing depend on ECU identification and requested lawful work.
Send the ECU numbers and fault-code report
For legitimate Simos 18 ECU diagnostics, programming, restoration or performance-calibration enquiries, send the vehicle model/year, ECU label, hardware/software identification and full diagnostic report. We can confirm supported methods and a quotation after review.
