Peugeot & Citroën Siemens SID804 ECU Cloning & Bench Programming
A genuine PSA engine-control-unit workshop record showing Siemens SID804 ECU cloning and bench programming work, using direct circuit-board access and a controlled programming fixture.
The job description identifies the Peugeot / Citroën SID804 family; photographs show the ECU and software workflow, but do not independently confirm the final ECU part number, completed donor clone or vehicle-side results. The exact hardware, software and donor compatibility must be checked before approval.

SID804-series ECU cloning and bench programming photographs
These three original photographs record the electronics bench, connected probes and programming software. The pictures are colour-accurate, lightly compressed and retain the full-size originals in the image viewer.

Direct ECU probe access
PSA diesel engine ECU on the programming bench with contact probes connected to its circuit board.

Programming software session
The K-TAG software screen and controlled workbench connection. The pictured selected SID801-family protocol is not proof of the precise SID804 identification.

Complete bench programming setup
Wiring, ECU connectors, direct board access and bench fixture documented before vehicle-side installation checks.
What is involved in cloning a Peugeot or Citroën SID804 ECU?
When an original engine ECU has failed or must be replaced, a suitable donor may need the original vehicle-specific data before it will operate correctly. Depending on the unit, the work can involve flash memory, EEPROM or security data, engine calibration and ECU coding. This is different from simply writing a generic map or fitting a second-hand ECU.
Identify the ECU
Check the SID family, PSA and Siemens part numbers, hardware revision and existing fault codes.
Read and back up
Connect via the supported bench or boot access method and retain readable original data.
Assess the donor
Confirm that a replacement controller is genuinely compatible before transfer or programming.
Program and verify
Perform the supported write and bench communication checks; confirm any vehicle-side coding or tests still required.
Case-study accuracy: The photographs demonstrate the bench method, not completion of every step above. The laptop shows a selected SID801-family software protocol, so the SID804 identifier is recorded from the supplied job description rather than independently established from the screen. No original-versus-donor labels or final vehicle test were supplied.
Other Siemens SID801, SID802, SID803, SID804, SID805 and SID806 ECUs
Peugeot, Citroën and related PSA diesel engines use several Siemens / Continental SID generations. They are related systems, not interchangeable replacement ECUs. Before a cloning, virginising, programming or recovery quotation, send clear photographs of the controller label and the vehicle details.
SID801 / SID801A
Selected earlier Peugeot and Citroën HDi applications; check processor, memory layout and security data.
SID802
Found in selected compact PSA diesel vehicles, including some 1.4 HDi applications.
SID803 / SID803A
Used in selected Peugeot and Citroën 2.0 HDi vehicles; donor suitability requires exact identification.
SID804
Often associated with selected 1.4 HDi cars such as Citroën C2/C3 and Peugeot 1007, depending on model and year.
SID805 / SID806
Other supported PSA-oriented SID types; procedures and availability vary by the specific controller.
SID807 / SID807EVO
Later Siemens/Continental ECU generations; should never be assumed plug-and-play with SID804.
Other Peugeot and Citroën ECU manufacturers
Related enquiries can include Bosch EDC15, EDC16C34 and EDC17, selected Delphi DCM and later Continental SID controllers. Each family has different software, protection and data-transfer requirements. Example SID804 part-number formats include Siemens 5WS4… and PSA 96… references; these are identification examples, not a universal replacement list.
Peugeot Citroën ECU cloning, TCM programming and fault-code diagnostics
Stourbridge workshop appointments support Birmingham, Dudley, Halesowen, Wolverhampton and the West Midlands. UK-wide ECU cloning by post is available for compatible removed modules after a label check. Some mobile diagnostics and vehicle-side programming may be arranged separately; bench cloning usually requires the units at the workshop.
Siemens SID804 ECU cloning frequently asked questions
Can I send my Peugeot or Citroën SID804 ECU by post?
Yes, where the unit and requested service are approved first. Send label photographs, vehicle details and symptoms before shipping. An original and compatible donor may both be needed.
Can SID801, SID803 or SID806 replace SID804 directly?
No direct interchangeability should be assumed. Matching ECU family names do not establish hardware, software or immobiliser compatibility.
Does ECU cloning repair every no-start or DTC fault?
No. Power supply, ground, wiring, sensors, BSI/immobiliser synchronisation and other underlying vehicle issues must be diagnosed separately. See our car diagnostics and DTC information pages.
What if the original ECU will not communicate?
Some ECUs can be assessed by supported bench or boot methods, but physical processor or memory damage may prevent useful data recovery. A replacement route is then assessed separately.
Send both ECU labels before buying a donor
For Peugeot or Citroën ECU cloning, SID804 programming, replacement ECU recovery or BSI/TCM-related faults, provide the registration, VIN, engine code, complete fault codes and photographs of original/donor labels. We will advise the supported workshop or postal route after compatibility checks.
